The Pak Global Pakistan:
Mexico’s President Claudia Sheinbaum has responded sharply to accusations made by tech billionaire Elon Musk, who alleged ties between her administration and drug cartels. Speaking at her Tuesday morning news conference, Sheinbaum announced that she is considering legal action against Musk for his statements.
Musk had publicly accused President Sheinbaum of being beholden to cartel interests, a claim that Sheinbaum vehemently rejected. “We are considering whether to take any legal action. The lawyers are looking into it,” she said.
Sheinbaum dismissed the allegations of leading a “narco-government” as “absurd” and “demonstrably false.” She described the accusations as baseless and laughable, stating, “It falls apart all on its own. They don’t even know what to invent anymore.”
The president’s remarks come amid heightened scrutiny of her national security policies following a surge of violence across Mexico over the weekend. Despite criticism, Sheinbaum remains firm in defending her administration against what she calls unfounded attacks.
The unfolding situation highlights the growing tensions between public figures and the ongoing challenges Mexico faces in combating organized crime and maintaining security.
