North Korean leader Kim Jong Un has showcased dozens of newly developed nuclear-capable rocket launchers in a grand ceremony ahead of the upcoming congress of the ruling Workers’ Party, according to state media reports.
During the unveiling event on Wednesday, Kim praised the 600mm-calibre rocket launchers as “wonderful” and “attractive,” emphasizing their strategic importance. The ceremony, reported by the Korean Central News Agency (KCNA), highlighted the presentation of fifty such launchers by North Korean munitions workers.
Kim stated, “When this weapon is used, actually, no force would be able to expect God’s protection,” underscoring the weapons’ perceived deterrent power. He further described the launchers as suitable for “special attacks,” a phrase commonly used by Pyongyang to imply nuclear capability.
Photographs released by North Korean state media showed rows of launch vehicles arranged in an orderly fashion at the plaza of Pyongyang’s House of Culture, the venue for the forthcoming congress.
The leader revealed that these weapons incorporate advanced “AI technology and compound guidance systems,” designed to deter adversaries without naming specific targets. Kim also mentioned that new military and construction goals would be outlined during the congress.
This display signals a continued commitment by North Korea to advance its military capabilities amid ongoing international tensions.
