Washington, Oct 30 (Reuters) — The ongoing U.S. government shutdown, now entering its 30th day, has begun to severely impact national security operations, with the FBI forced to slow or suspend several key investigations.
According to internal sources, agents have been unable to pay informants, fund covert operations, or process digital evidence due to a lack of budget approval. This situation has raised serious concerns about criminal networks, cybercrime, and counterterrorism efforts being disrupted.
Experts warn that prolonged funding paralysis could weaken domestic intelligence, reduce public safety, and embolden organized crime groups. Meanwhile, political negotiations between the White House and Congress remain at a stalemate, with both sides blaming each other for the shutdown’s escalating fallout.
The FBI union has called the situation “a national security risk,” urging lawmakers to act swiftly to restore funding and resume full operations.
