The Pak Global Pakistan — Thousands of Iranian students staged protests across Tehran and other cities as universities reopened following a month-long closure due to deadly nationwide demonstrations. The protests erupted amidst ongoing fears of escalating conflict involving the United States and Israel.
Major universities in Tehran, including the University of Tehran, Sharif University of Technology, Amirkabir University, and Shahid Beheshti University, witnessed large student turnouts on Sunday. Clashes occurred between anti-establishment demonstrators and pro-government groups, many linked to the Basij paramilitary wing of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC).
Security forces, heavily armed and visible outside university campuses, were recorded aggressively dispersing students, drawing public condemnation. Similar protests and confrontations were reported at Ferdowsi University in Mashhad, a key location of earlier protests in January.
The unrest follows a period in which hundreds were killed during demonstrations, primarily during a state-imposed communications blackout, underscoring the volatile domestic situation in Iran.
