Pakistan and Qatar to Form Joint Working Group to Boost Agricultural and Food Export Cooperation

Posted on October 31, 2025 by Saqlain Abbas

Pakistan has proposed establishing a Joint Working Group on Agriculture and Food Exports with Qatar to deepen bilateral cooperation and explore new trade opportunities in the food sector. During an official meeting in Islamabad, Pakistan’s Minister for National Food Security and Research Rana Tanveer Hussain met with Qatar’s Ambassador Ali bin Mubarak Al Khater, where both sides agreed to enhance collaboration in agricultural production, food security, and export development. Pakistan offered to supply halal meat, rice, fruits, vegetables, and animal fodder, highlighting its vast agricultural potential and capacity to meet Qatar’s growing food demand under its National Vision 2030. The minister also presented several investment-ready projects, including dry camel milk powder production, Rhodes grass cultivation, feedlot fattening farms, and modern cold storage facilities, aimed at boosting Pakistan’s export value and ensuring steady food supplies to Qatar. In response, the Qatari ambassador welcomed the proposal and emphasized Qatar’s interest in long-term partnerships with Pakistan, acknowledging the country’s fertile land, skilled workforce, and strong potential in agri-business. Both sides agreed that the Joint Working Group will identify key areas of cooperation, streamline trade procedures, and encourage private-sector investment to strengthen agricultural and food-processing ties between the two brotherly nations. This initiative reflects a shift from traditional diplomatic relations to a more strategic, economic partnership focused on sustainability, innovation, and mutual growth.
