by Saqlain Abbas

In a historic milestone for Pakistan’s space ambitions, China has announced that a Pakistani astronaut will join its upcoming Tiangong Space Station mission.

Under a joint agreement between the China Manned Space Agency (CMSA) and Pakistan’s Space and Upper Atmosphere Research Commission (SUPARCO), the astronaut will undergo specialized training in both Islamabad and Beijing before being launched aboard a Chinese spacecraft.

This collaboration marks Pakistan’s entry into human spaceflight and highlights the growing strategic and technological partnership between the two countries. The selected astronaut will participate as a payload specialist, assisting in scientific experiments and research aboard the Tiangong station.

Officials from both sides hailed this as a “new chapter” in China–Pakistan space cooperation, emphasizing that it will inspire a new generation of scientists and engineers in Pakistan.

The mission is part of a broader initiative to expand international collaboration in space, as China opens its Tiangong station to friendly nations.
